A total of 84 enterprises from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan have made the latest Forbes list of the world's top 2000 companies. PetroChina is 55th among the leading companies of the world, the top of Chinese companies, while China's Sinopec Corp ranks 81st. In Asia-Pacific, Japan holds the largest number of companies on the list with 316. Korea was followed with 49 companies.
This is the first time Forbes has combined its lists of the prestigious top 500 US companies with that of leading firms outside the US. Companies are ranked based on sales, profits, assets, and market value.
Taiwan's largest enterprise, Cathay Financial Holdings, makes the list at number 312.
Baosteel Group came in at 613, Taiwan China Steel spot at 739, Aluminum Corporation of China Limited listed at 1241.
